Describe a typical dayI spend my days working with curators, designers and technicians, managing all aspects of planning and installing exhibitions. There's a different set of problems almost every day. For instance, how do we best display Len Lye's amazing kinetic sculptures, soundproof Christian Marclay's video, Guitar Drag, or build a six-metre Pixar Luxo lamp? What are the most useful skills in your profession?Planning and costing for future exhibitions, having the experience to predict problems before they arise, a good general understanding of the skills - both creative and technical - of the various people who contribute to an exhibition and a sense of good design helps too. What's the best advice you have ever received? My mum always said do your best, be kind and honest, it pays off ... That and don't tuck your shirt into your underpants. -- MEGAN BYRNELINKacmi.net.au
